LESSON PLAN
Class: 3rd and 4th grade / Primary school
Number of students: 19
Mode of work: pair work/ group work. Pupils are divided into groups according to their educational needs and potential.
Course book: Red Submarine, (Hillside Press), Unit 6 “Our Clothes” for 3rd grade, and Αγγλικά Δ΄ Δημοτικού, (ΟΕΔB), Unit 6 “Animals” for 4th grade.
 
Aims of the lesson
-Revision: Where is /are, Prepositions of place (on, in, in front of, behind), Have got, Present Continuous, Present Simple and Clothes vocabulary.
 
STAGE 1:
Procedure: 3rd grade and 4th grade play the “Question and Answer Game”. Students are asked to sit in “mixed” pairs. Each pair is expected to prepare two or more questions which have to be answered by their classmates.
 
Objectives:
-To revise material they have been taught through speaking.
-To cooperate.
-To present new vocabulary and prepare 4th grade pupils for unit 6, lesson 2.
 
Time: 20 min.
 
STAGE 2:
Procedure: The teacher hands out photocopies of the Happy Hippo song (from the film “The Lion King”) to all class pupils. The 4th grade pupils already know most of the vocabulary which appears in this song while both 3rd and 4th grade pupils have been taught The Present Simple Tense. They listen to the song once. To make the activity easier, the teacher explains to the 3rd grade pupils the words they are not familiar with.
 
Objectives:
-To do more listening and to revise verbs.
-To learn through having fun.
 
Time: 15 min.
 
Give different homework assignments (instructions).
Time: 5 min.
